Eminem Furiously Fires At Trump In BET Awards Cypher

DETROIT, MICHIGAN —Rapper Eminem poured scorn on Trump in a disparaging freestyle cypher during the 2017 Black Entertainment Television awards on Tuesday Oct. 10.

Notoriously known for his excess vulgarity and fearless rapping, Eminem did what he does best: verbally rip people’s hearts out, shows it to you, takes a bite, spits it on the ground and still manages to cleverly highlight social issues.

Eminem’s poetic tirade, titled the ‘Storm’, fearlessly harangued President Trump as Eminem called the #POTUS “orange” and a “racist 94-year-old grandpa”. Eminem continued to fire his barrage of criticisms on Trump saying “yeah, sick tan/ that’s why he wants us to disband/ cause he cannot withstand/ the fact we’re not afraid of Trump”.

The rapper also criticized Trump’s stance on gun control, a topic once more the concern of the nation due to the recent horrid Nevada shooting. Slim Shady, one of Marshal Mather’s other alter egos, also managed to highlight Puerto Rico’s hurricane struggles in his poetic commentary.

“It’s like we take a step forwards then backwards/ but this is his form of distraction/ plus he gets an enormous reaction/ when he attacks the NFL so we focus on that/ instead of talking Puerto Rico or gun reform for Nevada/ all these horrible tragedies and he’s [Trump] bored and would rather/ cause a twitter storm with the Packers,”

The Detroit native, in the usual unfiltered manner, also brought attention to other current social issues. The NFL situation and Colin Kaepernick’s #TakeAKnee movement, a controversial issue that highlights the U.S.’s unresolved racism and white-privileged dominance, was brought under further spotlight. Kaepernick tweeted “I appreciate you” in reaction to Eminem’s cypher.

Eminem rapped a shout out to Kaepernick saying:

“This is for Colin, ball up a fist/ and keep that shit balled like Donald the bitch,”

Eminem continued his tongue-lashing on Trump, bringing to light Trump’s animosity towards former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, [Dem.],  who was Trump’s opposing runner up for the 2016 presidential election. Eminem compared Trump’s tax proposals, golf trips and mansions to that of the “same shit that he tormented Hillary for and he slandered”.

Eminem also called out his fans who may be Trump supporters to give them a clear warning about his acceptance of them.

“Any fan of mine/ who’s a supporter of his/ I’m drawing in the sand a line/ you’re either for or against/ and if you can’t decide/ who you like more and you’re split/ on who you should stand beside/ I’ll do it for you with this: fuck you,”

The message to the fans concluded with the urging of America to “stand up” in the beginning of the last rap bars, continuing with “we love our military and we love our country but we fucking hate Trump”.

This is not Eminem’s first rapped criticism of Donald Trump. Eminem released a diss track, a recording where the rap artist insults his/her chosen target, regarding Donald Trump during the elections of last year. A Complex article highlights the controversy of the almost eight minute track, titled Campaign Speech.
